Lead Teacher

Position Summary

Judah Ministries dba Pride Academy teachers are passionate about the intellectual and emotional development of children, and we are currently in search of equally passionate and enthusiastic Lead Teachers to join our Pride Academy Early Learning Institute team. Lead Teachers will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all the children. The successful candidates will work closely with the Directors to ensure our program provides education, physical health, emotional well-being, and parental involvement services to all enrolled students.

Responsibilities and Duties

v Create a developmentally appropriate program for our children.

v Develop weekly lesson plans, activities, and class setups.

v Assess children’s needs and development.

v Work closely with families to encourage cooperation.

v Guide instructional staff to help resolve issues with students when necessary.

v Ensure the safety of all children in our program.

v Physical requirements: Must be able to lift to 35lb. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, hearing, talking, and repetitive motion are physical requirements of the position.

v Closely follow licensing regulations related to childcare.

v Complete the Attendance Record for CACFP

v Complete the Meal Participation Record at the “Point of Service” for CACFP

v Complete individual infant feeding records (for Infant Teacher)

Required Skills

v Must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency

v Be at least 18 years old (preschool) or 21 years old (infant and toddlers)

v Child Development Associates (CDA) is required unless the applicant has an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related fields.

v 2 years or more experience in teaching position and lesson planning. Experience in childcare could potentially equate to credential requirement but one must be willing to achieve at least a CDA in 1 year while employed with the program.

v Passionate about the development and well-being of children

v Excellent verbal and written communication skills

v Must pass FBI Background Check, Drug Screening, Physical, and TB Test (Negative Reading)

v Will need to be able to take CPR/ First Aid/ AED and Universal Precautions

 

Daily Schedule and Work Location:

v Monday- Friday

v 8 hours shift

v 40 hours a week

v 1-hour lunch

Youth and Office Workers

Position Summary

Judah Ministries dba Pride Academy is looking for Part-time Youth and Office Workers ages 14-17 to assist in the operations of aftercare or school out programming, office work, kitchen support, and custodian work for our Pride Academy Early Learning Institute program. The successful candidates will work closely with the Lead Teachers and Directors to ensure our program provides quality services to our families and children.

 

Youth and Office Workers responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

v Assisting the teachers in the classroom by helping with planned activities

v Helping to prepare snacks or meals with the Culinary Specialist

v Aiding office staff in completing tasks such as copying documents, preparing files, typing information, and helping families with retrieving their children from their classrooms.

v Cleaning site locations by sweeping, mopping, cleaning off toys, removing trash, or any other cleaning needs.

v Tutoring aftercare children with homework or projects.

 

Youth and Office Worker Qualifications

v Must have a Work Permit from school.

v Must be at least 14 years old

v Must pass FBI Background Check, Drug Screening, Physical, and TB Test (Negative Reading)

v Will need to be able to take CPR/ First Aid/ AED and Universal Precautions

v Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

v Grades in school must be at least a C average or equivalent to average grade.

v Present a positive attitude to learning and growing in the work environment.

 

Daily Schedules and Work Location

v (Depending on school schedule): Monday-Friday from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

v (If on Break from School): Monday- Friday (4-8 hours daily)

v 15–30-minute break (regular school hours); 30-1 hour break (On school break days)

v (Regular School time): On-site work at either: Pride Academy West 1 & 2 locations (5615 W. 22nd Street or 5570 Crawfordsville Rd) or Pride Academy North (5711 Michigan Rd)

v (During School Breaks): Washington Park (3130 E. 30th Street) or Christian Park (4200 English Ave)
